One of Scottish Restaurant Award Winners 2008. Britannia Spice captures the spirit of its surroundings, namely the historic Port of Leith. The dining salon is in ship-shape condition; immaculately clean with rope ladders and ships’ helms carefully chosen to boost the maritime theme. The restaurants namesake, the Royal Yacht Britannia, is moored practically next door. Seating up to 130, the restaurant is ideal for groups who can choose longer tables and large, padded benches. Serving multi-ethnic cuisine, Britannia Spice is critically acclaimed, recently scooping high honours at the Best in Britain awards. Dishes from Bangladesh, North India, Nepal, Thailand and Sri Lanka are all on offer and there is something for everyone, from delicately seasoned trout to tender chicken and freshly spiced spinach. Seasonal native ingredients are used to prepare dishes to the highest professional standard. Customer favourites can be requested and the chefs will do their best to comply. The restaurant prides itself on fresh and healthy cooking and offers a wide selection of vegetarian and even gluten-free food. With ample parking and a bus stop right outside, the restaurant is easily accessible. There is wheelchair access to the spacious restaurant and a disabled toilet.
